While once a mainstay of treatment, collagen, a natural protein found in the body, is rarely used given today’s choices. Products such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse and Sculptra are used for volume enhancement and wrinkle reduction throughout the face, lips and forehead.
These agents are typically injected in the office after application of a topical or local anesthetic. Results are immediate and recovery is minimal at 1-2 days.
