As people age, some of the earliest changes are in the eyelids. Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, is designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure can correct drooping upper lids that tend to sag with time as well as the puffy bags below the eyes. While it can also make improvements in the fine wrinkles on the lower lids and "crow's feet" (region on side of eyes) on the side of the eye, it cannot eradicate them completely. Blepharoplasty can be done as a single procedure, or in conjunction with other facial surgery such as a facelift, brow lift, or skin resurfacing. This procedure is typically done under general anesthesia as an out-patient procedure, meaning you will be able to go home that same day. Full recovery to normal activity level typically takes 2-4 weeks.
