Now among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction (also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy") sculpts the body by removing undesirable fat from areas around the thighs, knees, buttocks, waist, hips, abdomen, chin, neck and upper arms. Power-assisted (PAL), ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL), SmartLipo and the tumescent technique are among the various methods used to provide precise results.

This surgery may be done individually, or it may be recommended that the patient pair this surgery with abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), brachioplasty (upper arm lift) or thighplasty (thigh lifts) to maximize the results of the surgery.

Liposuction is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, but the procedure can eliminate areas of fat that are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods.

This procedure is typically performed under sedation or general anesthesia on an out-patient basis, meaning you will be able to go home that same day. Full recovery to normal activity level typically takes 2-3 weeks.
